It’s 1863 and the NCRR train is headed for Washington, DC. Rumor is that there’s gold on board. This could mean a TRAIN RAID! The Northern Central Railway invites everyone to ride the William H. Simpson No. 17, our replica steam locomotive, through the rolling hills of New Freedom. This will be an exciting weekend filled with adventure and suspense. This excursion features the Union and Confederate armies skirmishing for control of the train . . . and the GOLD.
The fun does not end there, following the train ride, take a ride to Railroad Park and bring your family and friends to the Living History camp. Visit the park and learn how soldiers camped in garrison as they protect the little town of Railroad, PA. The soldiers welcome your interest in America’s history and encourage the children to share their experiences with the train raid and how the soldiers on board found the gold!
