Kreutz Creek Library will host its first “Meet Local Authors!” event from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29. The public is invited to attend the festivities inside the library at 66 Walnut Springs Road in Hellam. Admission is free, with books available for purchase and autograph.

“Most of these authors live, work and write in the local area,” says Kreutz Creek Library Manager Jennifer Johnson. “This is a chance for community members to meet, get to know and support homegrown talent. The library is a uniquely positioned to offer this opportunity.”

According to Johnson, the idea for “Meet Local Authors!” sparked while she was adding local authors’ books to the library’s collection. She wanted to do more to highlight their work. She started thinking about the community members who come to Kreutz Creek Library.  “Our community reads, and the community supports its small businesses and charitable organizations,” adds Johnson. “All of these threads are woven together in this upcoming author event.”

To bring this first-time program to fruition, Johnson worked with local authors Joshua Brandstadter, Janine Eaby, Metro Sean Heller, and Joshua Stauffer.  They decided on a casual, interactive format for the event to connect with area readers.  Three more authors are set to join them on March 29th. They include writers M. J. McCluskey, Joan Patterson, and John Verrico.

The “Meet Local Authors!” event will be held in the adult and teen areas of the library.  The seven authors will be there to connect with local readers, chat about their books, answer questions and sign books. Each will have their books available for purchase for interested readers. In addition, book related merchandise including bookmarks and book holders will be for sale during the event.

“It is exciting to see the impressive scope of programs that Kreutz Creek Library is offering in its new facility,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “The upcoming event promises something for all ages. Collectively, the authors have penned books for everyone from children to adults.”

Kreutz Creek Library, located at 66 Walnut Springs in Hellam, PA, has served the community since 1979. As a branch of York County Libraries, it is recognized as a Family Place Library; offering specialized literacy programs and opportunities for children and their families.
