What’s Happening?
So, what is a lunar eclipse?
A lunar eclipse occurs when Earth’s shadow falls on the moon, blocking the sunlight that normally reflects off the moon’s surface. This causes the moon to take on a reddish hue, often referred to as the "blood moon." This happens because the Earth’s atmosphere scatters sunlight, and the red wavelengths of light are the ones that make it through, giving the moon that stunning crimson color.
It’s a cosmic shadow play – Earth is in between the sun and the moon, and during the total eclipse, the moon will be completely covered by Earth’s shadow, making it appear dark and eerie.
Create memories that will last a lifetime! Get the kids up for this cosmic event—it’s the perfect excuse to spend some quality time together. And the best part? Once it’s over, you’ll have the perfect reason to take a nap later in the day.
