Articles of Confederation Day

Discover how the Thirteen Colonies became the United States of America, and learn about the document that developed the nation’s first form of federal government! Enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities that introduce the beginning years of America as a free and independent nation.

Celebrate the adoption of the Articles of Confederation with us at the Colonial Complex!  Adults and families can participate in hands-on activities and enjoy a live interpretation extravaganza that help us understand the importance of the Articles in American history and learn about York’s Revolutionary past!

Scheduled events throughout the day include: 

10:30 AM – 11:00 AM          Revolutionary Storytime

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM          First Floor Colonial Tours [15 minutes long]

10:40 AM – 11:00 AM          Firing Demonstration

11:00 AM – 11:45 AM          George Washington’s Life Prior to the Revolution

Noon – 12:30 PM               Central York Middle School Fife and Drums

1:00 PM – 1:30 PM             Revolutionary Storytime

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM             Matthew Dodd presents Songs & Stories of the American Revolution

1:15 PM – 2:00 PM             George Washington & the Articles of Confederation

2:00 PM – 2:20 PM             Firing Demonstration
