The holidays are quickly approaching which means it's time for us to spread a little joy to our neighbors in need with our SoYoCo Holiday Giveback!
The SoYoCo Holiday Giveback program started when I was sharing with my Girl Scout troop one of our families' holiday traditions was to help a family in need by providing them with Christmas gifts and a meal. The girls loved the idea so much that they decided to adopt 12 local families in need. That small idea quickly snowballed into a HUGE annual community project which has now provided well over 13,000 children with gifts. Due to the increase of families in need and a shortage of volunteers, the way we deliver donations often changes. This year's program will be run as an Adopt a Family Event. Now through the month of November, you can register to adopt a family. We'll also be collecting new and used toys/clothing donations to ensure that every child who registers receives a gift even if we do not have adoptors. Then a few weeks before Christmas we'll be setting up everything at a central SoYoCo location so parents/caregivers can pick up their gifts or shop for items for their families.
As you can imagine the need for holiday help in our community is greater than ever before. If your family, group, or business would like to help by adopting or collecting/storing donated items or helping with distribution on the day of the event please click here. Once you've filled out the form we will contact you with more info. If you would like to donate new or gently items to a family in need please email Sarah at sarahfrane@macaronikid.com.
