Brown’s Bees and Blossoms Quilt Project

March 20, 2017

Brown’s Orchards celebrates the spring season when the orchard trees are full of beautiful blossoms and the honey bees fly around and pollinate the blossoms ensuring fruit growth. In honor of this special time of year we invite students in York County ages preschool-12th grade representing individual families, schools and community groups to complete a fabric square block that features a bee and/or fruit tree blossom and/or picture of fruit.  Brown’s Orchards is proud to grow a variety of fruit in our orchard.  In our orchard we grow apples, cherries, peaches, pears, plums, pluots, apricots and nectarines.

The fabric blocks from participants will be made into a wall quilt and displayed at Brown’s Market throughout the month of May. Quilt blocks will then be used for display in the Brown’s Orchard Honey House on a rotational basis.

Quilt block rules and requirements:

Students ages preschool-12th grade create a design on a fabric square measuring 10 x 10 in size.  The design should be of a bee,  and/or a flower blossom from a fruit tree and/or of the fruits that we grow in our orchard.  Fruits can include apples, cherries, peaches, pears, plums, pluots, apricots and nectarines. The fabric square can be decorated using a variety of supplies including paint, paper, sewing materials, or markers.

Quilt block deadline:

Participants must submit their registration and fabric quilt block to the Brown’s Orchards office receptionist by April 14th 2017 by 8:00pm the close of the business day. You may submit the form with your quilt block or submit the form and the quilt block separately.
