Millions of children have learned to read through the creative genius of Dr. Seuss. Which is why the National Education Association chose Dr. Seuss's birthday as National Read Across America Day. NEA launched the Read Across America initiative in 1997, with the goal of encouraging children to read more books while also getting them excited about reading. On March 2, 1998, the first Read Across America Day also known as Dr.Seuss Day was celebrated; since then f on or around March 2nd which is Dr. Seuss's birthday, schools, libraries, and educational facilities will host celebrations which include storytimes to crafts, reading contests and more!
Every year we here at Macaroni Kid South York like to join in on the fun by hosting our virtual Dr.Seuss Spirit Week March 1-5th! Each day we have a new theme inspired by one of Dr.Seuss's classic children's books as well as crafts, recipes, videos, and more. Check out our themes below and join in on the fun all week on on our event page!
